IP Camera Viewer 2 App Reviews
App works great
We have 2 Panasonic cameras at our vacation camera. This app works great with them. We can pan and tilt the cams and the picture is good.
I love to pull this app up when Im on my iMac and see all my cameras. I have many different cameras like Foscam/D-link/Agasio which all work and the pan/tilt work with them too. However, I recently got a Tenvis 2013 and this camera caused a major issue with this software as it would continue to attempt to bring up an image and I would have to Force Quit the program. I contacted DComplex and they responded immediately with a recommendation and are attempting to fix this problem. Even with this minor issue for me I would purchase this application again and again. The only other wish I might have is to be able to add some public WebCams like our local traffic cams. Maybe you can already do this I just havent figured it out yet.
The best IP Camera software out there for mac. I needed software i could use that would record video on my computer when motion is detected. All other programs ive tried crash or have bugs. And there expensive. I love this and will never use anything else.
Works OK with an Acti D32 IP Camera on my Macintosh Pro desktop running OSX 10.7.5. The cam was not initially found by the auto-detect feature but was found when the "manual add" feature was used.
Can not pull up my cams on my imac. Works half the time on my cell. my wifi is NOT the problem. I have tried this app on multiple macs, never works. clocking 50+ mbs.
Extremely useful
Software works great with D-Link camera. Interface is sort of ugly.
My only gripe would be that I am on a very small SSD, yet I have a HUGE 4 Terabyte drive I could use to keep months of video on. But sadly it forces you to use the “Movies” folder. Just very dumb to lock you out of that control. I have found a way around it though through Automator: Launch Automator. When prompted to choose a template for your workflow, select Calendar Alarm. In the workflow area, string together these three actions: Get Specified Finder Items, Get Folder Contents, and Copy Finder Items. For the first command, navigate to the Movies Folder and set it to pull from there. Ignore the middle command. Just leave it alone and keep the tick box unticked. On the last command set the folder you want the recordings to be copied to every day. I set mine to DropBox so I can have off site recording in case my iMac gets lifted if someone breaks in. Therefore I can still access the footage. Save the file. Calendar will launch. Select the new event and using the edit menu in the toolbar up top, go to Edit>Edit Event. Set to run at like 3 am or something. Then make a new Calendar Alarm event. We are only going to change the last step in the list of commands: Launch Automator. When prompted to choose a template for your workflow, select Calendar Alarm again. In the workflow area, string together these three actions: Get Specified Finder Items, Get Folder Contents, and Move Finder Items to Trash. Set the first command to pull from your original Movies folder since this is the folder you need cleared out every day to save space. Leave step two and step three alone. There are no parameters to put in here. Then simply repeat the Edit>Edit Event from previous and set it to run at like 6 am. This gives the system 3 hours to copy the footage over. More than enough time. This will copy to another folder (like DropBox for off site back up) and then delete after the backup is done. The only pain is having to empty your Trash daily, but I likely do that anyway. Not an IDEAL solution, but it’s a heck of a lot better than having a full local SSD drive! I hope this helps. The developers really need to build in this functionality, but until then, my hacky solution will work for most people.
Doesn’t Support FI9821W
Great program but there has not been an update in a long time and does not support some of the popular Foscam cameras.
I currently have 28 ip cameras that I monitor from my macbook pro. I originally had the ipcamera viewer software but they quit upgrading it with new camera profiles so I had to get the ipcamera viewer 2 software because I got a newer camera and they only supported it on the ipcamera viewer 2 software. Now I have another newer camera and its not supported on this software but supposedley it is on the ipcamera recorder software so your telling me I have to buy yet another version of your software to monitor my cameras and pay an additional fee for each camera even though I do not want to record from them? No thanks. I will find another solution somewhere else. Also, why does this software put such a strain on my cpu? I can view twice as many cameras on my ipad at the same time with no problem yet looking at the same cameras from my mac book pro with intel i7 sends my cpu usage over %120? I have sent multiple questions to the developer asking if they will upgrade the software to support newer cameras but have not recieved a reply. The developers must have left this app for dead. No support, they dont return emails, and its beeen nearly a year since this app has had an update, its still at version 1.0! I do not reccomend anybody to by this software or any software from this developer until they change the way they do business. Oh how I wish the developers of the live cams pro ios app would develop a mac app.
i have a zmodo ip camera system that works fine with my iPhone, however with this app it won’t work with my macbook pro. contacted mfg but no reply. if someone knows of system that works with zmodo let me know
I would like it more if it… supported 2 addresses; 1 for local and another i can use for remote such as DNS I don’t get any audio from my cameras The UI is a bit buggy and not intuitive. Just trying to drag the cameras from the list to the table view barely works
No support for Foscam 9821W
Works well with my Foscam 8910 cameras, but not the 9821W
For the D-Link DCS-942 I have, this works well. The popular new Foscam Fl9821W i just go though has not worked, which is frustrating. After searching the knowledge base, they acknowledge it doesn’t work and point to another (paid) app. Oh well.
While this app appears to work fine it will flood your system log with thousands upon thousands of "CFNetwork internal error” messages. My attempts to get this resolved through the IP Camers Viewer 2 Support link on this have been ignored. If the app is left running it will eventually fill your boot partition and silently cause system wide problems. Do NOT pay this developer anything until they fix this fatal flaw. It does not matter what is causing theses messages. I do not need hundreds of thousands of them.
The developer won’t answer any reqest! I have several friends who also use the I/P Camera viewer on the MAC and have tried unsuccessfully to reach these people. This software worked great for viewing until I updated to Foscam h.264 cameras. I’m sure others would be willing to pay a modest fee for an updated VIEWER.
The setup only took a couple of minutes. The app is very easy to negotiate and customize. I very much like the motion sensor recording feature. I do wish there was an E-mail notification option for the motion detection. The picture is not as clear as when I view the camera straight from my chrome browser.
Real crap
Wow, looks and acts terrible with Mobotix cameras.
Does not work. Though it has my cmaeras brand as an option to add, it fails to provide all setting parameters. I cannot even say nice try. Terrible waste of my time!
It also puts a huge strain on my CPU and after experience several crashes for which the app doesn’t recover the author of the app told me to buy another newer product which only allows cloud recording. NO thanks.
I have a 98126W it’s not listed. It is listed in the new software IP CAMERA VIEWER 4. It seems this software was abandoned to come out with new version which is a rip off and silly coin system and ridiculous price for add on’s. I like how this “2” version works, but seems the author has gotten GREEDY. I can’t get this to work with my newer model camera. Other problems. ERRORS written in red don’t fit in window on far right so there is more info that is hidden. The area does not resize to allow me to see all the red text. the DCOMPLEX logo screen is tacky and really looks like a child did it. (please remove it) I tried adding GENERIC and didn’t work. I tried adding generic streaming and didn’t work. It did work with a old camera that I no longer have. Even version 4 doesn’t have ZOOM with my PTZ camera. It has it’s own digital zoom, does not use my cameras optical zoom. NOT THE SAME! Viewer 4 also is ANNOYING in each time I click the screen I tget 2 screens - “I ONLY WANT ONE CAMEAR” not a blank 2nd camera. CONFUSING MARKETING - listing various versions of nearly same thing with different bugs. DROP ALL BUT ONE- and support it and price is properly and you wil be successful.
